GCX, organized by Rare Drop Co., is a premier fundraising event dedicated to supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through cancer research funding and awareness. The event adopts a fresh theme and rebrands each year, creating a unique and engaging experience.
The event unfolds in two key stages: an online charity streaming event, where Twitch streamers host fundraising streams on their platforms, and a live in-person gathering in Orlando, Florida, featuring gaming-related activities and interactive fundraising experiences. Together, these stages unite the gaming community to make a significant impact for a meaningful cause.
I oversaw the animation and created all illustrations for the animated elements in this charity marathon live stream, which raised an impressive $3 million. My contributions included a logo reel and interactive donation alerts designed to celebrate each contribution, with donors’ names displayed alongside a burst of confetti animation, enhancing engagement and excitement throughout the event
I created a virtual map for the GCX app, using Adobe Illustrator to construct detailed illustrations. This map was a key feature for event participants, enhancing their experience by providing a user-friendly tool to navigate the event space and easily locate activities and points of interest.
